What about sub-atomics?
I could tell you about the atomic forces that we cannot completely understand. Why do like charges repel outside of the atom but group together in the nucleus. Why do electrons orbit instead of slam into the positively charge nucleus. What about quarks and energy waves.
Or I could spend a semester trying to explain string theory, dark matter, dark energy, and other imagined sub-sub-atomic particles, and how we do not have a clue. We can’t see things like strings, dark matter or any of these others, but scientist imagine they are there. Sounds like science-fiction instead of science, but this is the state of Science today. In an attempt to prove God does not exists, the complexity of our theories again points straight back to God.
So that was a very fast look at the every scale level of existence from the Universe level to sub-atomics. If you are open to any possible answer, then logic, reason, probabilities, and science point you to only one plausible answer: a Creator and sustainer God.
Now I’m going to tell you the one that is beyond all of these. Our brain. Not your physical brain but our mind and awareness. This is metaphysics.
Did you know that it is estimated that our brains have roughly 100 billion neurons and 10 times more glial cells. Somewhere in these billions of neurons our memories are stored.
Typically our bodies produce thousands of neurons every day. But at nearly the same rate neurons die off. In fact, it is estimated that by the time you are 50 years old you have replaced every original neuron in your body.
So I have a question for you, were do your memories reside. If it’s in the cell, then every memory would be lost to time as we age. But we all have memories that defy this concept. So if the memory is not merely biological and cellular, then what is it and where is it. It appears to be more that chemical or physical.
Evolution, naturalism, materialism, atheism have no answers. How is information passed from one generation of cells to another. Why is information which are not critical to survival or reproduction or anything necessary still passed on like memories. I can remember the names of my pets as a child. I remember the deaths of my grandparents. I have forgotten useful skills like knot tying and most of my solid state physics from graduate school.
There is no naturalist explanation for personality, emotion, learning, remembering, logic, reason, math, or science.
I always come back to this quote from famed astronomer and physicists Robert Jastrow who was the founding director of the Goddard Institute for Space studies. “for the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends like a bad dream. He has scaled the mountains of ignorance; He is about to conquer the highest peak; As he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
So what did you think. We have lots of evidence for what we believe. Far more than the atheist, evolutionist, or naturalist do to support their faith in their godless religion of science.
Next time. It’s time to make a plan.
Let’s close and pray.
Thank you and God’s Blessing my friends.
